Get a copy of Leah’s handy little ebook and learn her proofreading system; why proofreading is so challenging and what to do about it; how to use semi-colons, hyphens, and commas; and why you should not rely on spell check. Leah’s book may not turn you into a proof-reading genius like she is—that takes practice—but you’ll definitely learn something useful to make you a better writer. —Alison Kerr of Loving Nature’s Garden

I had been searching the Internet for a proofreading guide and wasn’t able to find one that completely suited my needs. A lot of the free guides I stumbled across were either too basic or overwhelming. This is fantastic! Just what I needed to take my writing to the next level. Very well laid out and easy to follow. —Lisa RunningBear of Getting to Zen

The Handy-Dandy Everybody’s Guide to Proofreading
started over ten years ago as a two-page class handout for freshman composition classes I taught at local community colleges. It was the “rules” section that you’ll see in this ebook: a simple visual aid for remembering basic sentence structure and the rules for punctuation and grammar that go along with it.

It’s been updated, and the handout has grown to a thirteen-page ebook loaded with tips and tricks that professional proofreaders and editors use every day. I also explain my proofreading system and exactly what goes on in my mind as I proofread my own work or a client’s. It’s not just reading and hoping you catch a mistake—it’s a system.

Here are just a few of the questions the ebook answers:

  • Where should I put a comma?
  • When shouldn’t I use a comma?
  • When should I use a semi-colon or a colon?
  • How do I know whether to use who or whom?
  • Where can I go for more help?
  • And much more!
